The Big Tree Giveaway 2023

Go Back

On the back of the success of Nottingham City Council’s Big Tree Giveaways in 2021 and 2022, where residents could register for a free native tree sapling, Nottingham City Council have relaunched the programme for 2023.

Nottingham City Council have set an ambitious target to become the first carbon neutral city in the UK by 2028. As part of this ambitious target the City has pledged to plant 50,000 trees by 2023. The Big Tree Giveaways have given 3,000 residents a chance to plant a tree in their garden and play their part in our pledge to make our City greener.

To continue this initiative, Nottingham City Council have decided to give away 1,000 more trees this year so that residents can grow their own at home. Nottingham City Council will be offering either apple (Malus Sylvestris) or hazel (Corylus avellana) saplings to residents.

Registration for City residents will go live on 1st August 2023 at 9am.

Residents need to register for their free tree sapling via Eventbrite and can then collect from the Woodthorpe Park Plant Shop between the 27th to 30th October.

The Nottingham Green Guardians support this event each year by stewarding residents to the collection point at the Woodthorpe Park Plant Shop as well as giving out trees and information to residents about planting and initial care for their new sapling.
