Forest Rec Community Garden

The Forest Recreation Ground Community Garden is a welcoming green space where people come together every Tuesday to grow food, flowers, and wildlife-friendly planting right in the heart of Nottingham.

No experience necessary! Whether you’re completely new to gardening or already growing at home, you’re welcome to join these relaxed, friendly weekly sessions. It’s a great way to get outdoors, learn as you go, and be part of a supportive community that’s shaping the garden week by week.

What to expect: A hands-on, social gardening session where everyone gets stuck in. Each week brings a mix of seasonal tasks such as planting, sowing, weeding, composting, pruning, and caring for fruit, vegetables, and flowers. You’ll pick up practical skills as you go, help improve habitats for wildlife and pollinators, and see the garden evolve over time. It’s informal, welcoming, and a great way to meet others while doing something active, useful, and enjoyable outdoors.

The Community Garden provides: Tools and hot refreshments. Please wear sturdy footwear, gloves, and weather-appropriate clothing.

Time: 10am (sessions last approximately 2–3 hours)
When: Most Tuesdays!

Parking: Plenty of parking is available on site, just off the Mansfield Road entrance.

You are welcome to turn up on the day; however, we encourage you to register as a Green Guardian on our website and sign up for the event in advance so our Ranger knows to expect you.
